The Northborough-Southborough Youth Lacrosse Association was founded in 1999 by a group of parents who wanted to create a youth lacrosse team in town.

The founders were: Phil Lockwood, Ande Lockwood, Greg Liposky, Stephen Rice, Marie Rice. These five parents next needed to find someone who knew lacrosse and would be willing to coach, and so Bob Flynn and Brian Cooke rounded out the founding group.

Our first season was played in the spring of 2000, and we had 60 boys plus 3 girls in the inaugural season.

Lacrosse, a game originated by the North American Indians and currently one of the fastest growing sports in the country, is now being played at the youth level for the first time in Northborough and Southborough, Masssachusetts.

The 2000 season began with two teams age 12 and under and one team age 14 and under. We play under the auspices of the Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League which includes teams from 72 towns in eastern Massachusetts. The goals of youth lacrosse in the MBYLL are geared more for learning and having fun and less on "winning at all costs", which has become prevalent in youth sports. There are no scores reported, no standings kept, and no playoffs held. Northborough and Southborough Youth lacrosse Association (NSYLA) goals are to teach the game of lacrosse, develop lacrosse skills, teach good sportsmanship, and have fun.

Coaches for the 12U teams are: Brian Cooke, Bob Flynn, Steve Rice, Skip McGrail, Mike McGuinness and Mike Jackson.

The 14U team was coached by Phil Lockwood and Bob Macchi.

 The Second Season

Our second season saw the program grow to have 75 boys and 60 girls. Greg Liposky became the Vice President of NSYLA in charge of the girls program, where we fielded three girls teams.

The Third Season

The spring 2002 season expanded to include 100 boys, and the girls program registered as a separate organization outside of NSYLA this year.

The Thirteenth Season
2012 we had the program travel to Minnechaug to watch the JV and Varsity play, and then we had a Jamboree with the Wilbraham Youth Lacrosse (feeder program for Minnechaug Regional High). Pictured below is ten years worth of players (representing half of the players in our program this year).
